Illinois State Trooper hurt in car accident

Posted on December 00, 0000 in Car Accidents

The legal steps to take after a car accident truly depend on the seriousness of the accident. Some accidents result in significant injuries and property damage. Fatal accidents are even more complicated, from a legal perspective. An attorney can help answer questions that victims or their families may have following an accident.

A recent car crash on I-74 in Illinois left a state trooper injured. According to officials, the trooper&s squad car was parked on the right side of the road. The trooper had stopped his car in order to assist with another earlier accident in the nearby ditch.

Officials say that the Illinois State Trooper had his squad car lights on at the time of the accident. He also apparently had a flare ignited to warn oncoming traffic. A driver in a pickup truck somehow lost control of his car and rear-ended the trooper&s squad car. The impact shoved the squad car into the ditch and into the car from the original accident.

The 49-year-old driver of the truck was issued a citation for driving too fast under the road conditions. He was also cited for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, otherwise known as failure to abide by Illinois& move-over law. Police are still investigating the accident.

Victims injured in similar crashes can speak with an Illinois car accident lawyer for help. A lawyer can offer advice on a range of issues from liability determinations to wrongful death and recovery of damages. Lawyers are well-versed in the rules of the road and this experience and skill can help prepare a case against a potentially negligent driver.
